Mik's Mi'kmaq

It took me a solid two years (and then some) to get around to painting up my "Choctaw". Once I finally got started, they really only took about a week or so, but two years to get to them was murder. They're finished and I'm fairly pleased.

The figs are 40mm Native Americans from Sash and Saber Castings. Way back when, we were talking some skirmish level French & Indian War in 40mm, and typing it here now, it still sounds like a pretty good idea! I'd like to add, maybe, ten more figs to my scouting band; five French Couereurs de Bois, and I'd like to add five more Native Americans, but armed with maybe bows or hand weapons. It'd give me a twenty strong 'warband' perfect for skirmishing during the Seven Years War! I'm just getting started...

Originally I had gone with the Choctaw tribe, but I wanted a tribe closer to the Great Lakes theater during the war, I came across the name Mi'kmaq, and that kind of sealed the deal. I've got a lot of projects going on all of the sudden...

  1. These look great. Good skin tone and the blue really pops. I like the guy with the nose ring too =)

  2. Those guys would make a great ratskin necromunda gang too. Dual purpose baby!

  3. Loves these figs. I love the period actually and have been tempted a few times. If you want great 28mm terrain for those fellows, check out Arrow Miniatures who are sold through Acheson Creations. They have several types of longhouses and log pallisades.

I have their Iroqois Longhouse and it's so pretty I'm afraid to try to paint itbecause I might mess it up.

  4. Thanks for the comments everyone! These guys were fun to paint up, and I would like to crank out some more. My interest in the FIW is pretty great, so I'm surprised I haven't done more with it. I take any WIP shots, which is too bad because these figs are multi-part and very customizable.

Thanks for the terrain tip Eli!
