Predators

Well, by now, you know there's a new Predator movie in the works, yeah? Raise your hand if you're still cringing from the last installment? I'll be the first to admit I'm a "fanboy" of the franchise, but even 'requiem' was too taxing for me. Well now, as the trend seems to be, in this new installment, call it a reboot or reimagining, or whatever, the sneak peek trailer looks promising, as do the words and sentiment of Robert Rodriguez.

Writer/Director Rodders...but now upgraded with Predators

I was excited when I heard Rodriguez was attached to this, he's a brilliant director and writer, and since I'm an admitted fanboy of the franchise, I remember the screenplay he wrote as a sequel to the original Predator. In that sequel Arnold's character, Dutch, is kidnapped and taken to the Predator homeworld. Yeah, it sounds corny...and cool!

Now the rumor is that the new movie will see a team of people encountering Preds all over the woods, with the catch being that these woods are not on Earth. It will be interesting to see how they pull that off considering the weaponry in the clip is all modern, with nary a raygun, or even a 'near-future' caseless rifle in sight.

Now the trick with ole Rodders up there is that he's not the director, nor is he the writer of Predators. He is the producer, mind you, which essentially means his scope, his vision he shares in the clip, should come through in the finished result.

  1. I was a bit put off when he talked about "bigger" and "meaner" aliens in the film, and "bigger" and "meaner" usually suggests a more adolescent approach. Now, I know it's Predator not Proust, but still, I'm not sure about this one.

  2. If the rumor is true, and they are on the Predator homeworld, hopefully "bigger and meaner" just means more varieties of Predator fauna. It did show Predator 'dogs' in the clip.

  3. We'll have to see how it turns out in the end. Khurasan miniatures has a new alien model out that resembles the pred that is really cool for 15mm..

  5. I love the whole predator thing, from the original pc game, to the books and the model but the latest run of films have just been horrendous.

Here's hoping this one's an improvement on the last.

  6. This Predator film looks like a solid return to the fundimentals of Predators. There is no attempt to fuse it with the Aliens franchise or the earlier stories. It has some good actors in it which should help it out and even if Rodriguez isn't directing, I don't expect him to deliver a piece of crap.

Preds rock except the for a few like the 'tard Predator in the one series who let himself get ambushed by a cougar. The Pred-alien is a bad idea too, but then again that's just a byproduct of the hack job eaver and the rest of the production crew did on Alien 3.

    Looking forward to this one.
