A Dropship (Some?) More

I'm not the first one to lament the passing of a veritable cornerstone blog in sci-fi gaming, nor will I be the last, but I'd be remiss if I didn't note Dropship Horizon's final voyage here at Mik's Minis. I also just like typing "Mik's Minis" because it's almost like I'm talking about myself in the third person.

If you ever googled "15mm sci-fi" I'm sure one of the first links you saw was to Dropship Horizon, it was a one-stop source for all the wee sci-fi "pew pew" folk out there and one of the blogs I looked forward to reading when a new post popped up. Okay, I really did just google it and it was tenth on the list. Right above Mik's Minis apparently (which I don't claim to be a cornerstone in sci-fi gaming whatsoever) and a couple of spots after my buddy Andy's blog as well). So basically we've learned googling doesn't do it justice at all.

Anyway, I don't like to post more than once a day, so by the time this airs the Dropship will be no more. I'm hoping Mark leaves the site up, it has so many good resources, articles, and overall eye candy, but who knows?

There's a lot of blogs that appear and disappear in the blink of the eye, they've got zero staying power and don't hold my attention. I could care less. This one however is going to be sorely missed. Adios el Dropshippos (that's EspaƱol for 'dropship').

EDIT: I had to change the title. It seems while I was out of the loop that the Dropship was able to get a second chance and has a crew of folks signed on to keep it running. This is obviously some great news and I wish them the best of luck while I look forward to new material!

  1. Events move fast - there's a new crew at Dropship and they're boldly going on. I know what you mean about disappearing acts though. There are blogs in my rolls I hope do post again even though it's been months. The tumbleweed blows on the blogosphere too.

  2. Damn Porky! You're ubiqitious! Haha!

Yepp, myself and a few other bloggers, whom you probably know, has re-crewed the dropship and we'll try to keep her flying as straight as Mark did. :)

  3. Yup. I'm part of the new crew, myself. I took the copilot's seat as Associate Editor. The position even came with a nifty hat (not really).

  4. Guys, I skip town for a weekend and look what happens! Nice job there Martin and Eli, you've got big shoes to fill but I know you'll be able to do it justice.
