Sand Raiders of the Nevulon Moons

Mercenaries fan out across the arid landscape

Two scouts emerge from a makeshift spider-hole

A trooper investigates a noise

Standing watch

Finding some shade in the sparse foliage

    1. Just a sunny day with a full grown man playing in the dirt with his toy soldiers as if were 1985 again.

    1. I had put these together as a concept for an idea a long time ago that ended up going in a completely different direction, leaving these kind of like a deleted scene. Well they got their due after all.

  3. This is one of the good things about 40k minis, you can make a lot of cool stuff with them. You have Kroot, Space Marines, and is that an eldar rifle?

I also like the gun in holster on the back of that one. Nice touch.

    1. Thanks! I agree about 40k minis, they're pretty cool across the board and plastic vs. metal aside, you can really do some cool stuff when you kitbash plastics.

Good eye on the rifle, those are indeed old Rogue Trader era Eldar guns. I think I put holstered pistols on maybe all of them, at least two or three.

  4. Thanks! I haven't painted anything lately but I thought I had to put the 'minis' back in Mik's Minis somehow.

    1. Thanks! I should've posted these a long time ago, I might've been inspired to do more. I'll have to see how many parts I have left.

  7. I really like these guys. I once built some half Kroot, half Catachan conversions. My fluff said they were a unit cut off behind enemy lines. They had blue skin...Their Tau commanders fed their dead to the kroot to pass on tactical acumen.

    1. Blue skin would work well with the Kroot head shape. These guys are your basic reptilian/bird of prey hybrids acting as soldiers of fortune localized to their single system.

With guns that go, "Pew pew!"

  9. What a fantastic idea!
Despite being made 100% from 40k minis, they somehow look very un-40k.

    1. Thanks, I also used Wood Elf Blood Bowl decals on the shoulders. I think what helps keep them looking un40K is putting them on washers instead of slottabases, which I never encountered until 40k came along.

    1. My favorite part is how easily the medium on their bases blends with the actual terrain.

  11. Now we just need some Rogue Space stats for them! : )

  13. Wonderful! Toy soldiers in the garden! They blend in perfectly into the terrain, really cool!
