Age of Sigmar Liberators

Back in the saddle! It's been what? Weeks? Months? Years?

Well, the gap here hasn't been filled with minis I haven't been showing you, I just haven't been doing anything all this time in the minis department!  All that changes now, below is my current project; the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar...

I'm batch painting the two units of Stormcast Eternal Liberators from the starter set; each unit of four troops is lead by a Prime. Can't say enough good things about these figs, especially considering that they're starter box models!

I should mention that I'm using the excellent tutorial videos on the YouTube channel Warhammer TV by Duncan Rhodes. He's broken down all models in the starter box and although the steps are long and many, he makes them very doable.

Any reader of the blog knows that I am really a get-them-on-the-table kind of painter but not this time. These guys I'm going to knock out of the box.

Speaking of the box, here's Age of Sigmar assembled. Some of it was trickier than I thought, but other than a little green stuff needed on the big character model, they went together quickly.

Until next time, enjoy!

  1. Good grief sir! Using that wondrous tome as a tray table is a crime!

    1. Haha! I thought the exact same thing as I picked the first one off of it and it 'stuck' to it! Never again!

  2. I'm really excited to see you getting on board with Age of Sigmar. I did a small review of it on my blog. There is a lot of hate on the internet about it, and I don't think the game deserves it. The stormcast eternals do look amazing, and I will be doing a conversion project with them. A stormhost made by Grungni himself that he sent to protect the Duarden, so it will be a Dwarf themed stormhost. They will be the "Forgesworn Eternals" Oh and +1 for Duncan Rhodes. His videos are excellent and helped my painting improve.

    1. Yeah, as much as I loathe to use it, "haters gonna hate" and it applies to all this doom and gloom about AoS. Warhammer Fantasy accounted for 13% of GW sales, so I find extremely curious this new AoS has so many detractors since all these squeaky wheels were so obviously NOT playing the old edition.

Your conversion project sounds great, that's what I really love about the new rules; the extreme freedom to really make whatever army you want. What I want you guys to try next is do a scenario and don't put any wounds restrictions on anything, just play it straight up, come to a 'gentleman's agreement' about your forces, and then give it a go. I'd like to see how those pan out.

As for 'getting on board', well, I don't have much of a choice, haha. Think Lando Calrissian.

  5. I may never pick up the game - more for lack of time for another game - but I have to say I love that they included an otherworldly force for "good" players. For the entire history of the Warhammer universe, beyond 3rd Edition, the concept of supernatural servitors, and such were pretty much the realm of Chaos (no pun intended). Now, good players can play supernatural hosts. Funny considering the gods of Law have been in the fluff since the WFRP days.

  6. I think I'll download the rules and have a read through.

Glad to see you're back at it!
