Blood Angel Terminator: Stage III

Just a quick update with my entry for the Jawaballs Terminator contest. I think I'm in the home stretch to be honest. Since basing is deliberately being kept simple I don't need worry about that. To go, I have some minor touch-ups, the space marine head, and the power sword. These last two items have been saved 'til the end because they're both my weakest areas. I have a fairly recent White Dwarf that has a great 'painting faces' tutorial by the 'Eavy Metal team, so I'll use that for the head. I'm sure I can find a good power sword tutorial on the web somewhere too. I like the dark colored blades with the glowing, lightning arcs emanating up from the hilt. I don't know if I can pull that off, but I'll try!

I've been doing a lot with this model that I don't normally do; mainly I've just been taking my time, and I've really tried to use a large color palette and work up my highlights and shading. Being both a Dark Angels and Tau player, it's a nice change of pace to sink my teeth into nothing but red as well. I had a bit of a hiccup with my primer, but everything worked out pretty well once I started painting. I know I've said many times here at Mik's Minis that I "loathe" painting, and it's just a chore in order to get models on the table, but this little project has started to turn around my thinking somewhat. I know, shocker!

  1. Looking pretty good, Mik. My only suggestion would be to go with the traditional green purity seals. It adds a great contrast to all that red!

  2. Well I don't want to break with tradition! Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot...
