Mik's Minis: Now With More Testosterone

Nothing says father-son bonding like the Riddle of Steel

Today was a big doctor's office visit in that we got to find out the gender of our new baby! As you may have guessed from the Conan pic above that yes, it is a boy. And yes, I put "Conan" forth as a possible name, and yes, it was promptly shot down! With my daughter we've painted miniatures, played boardgames / wargames, wrestled, took MMA classes, had Nerf gun battles, and the like. Having a boy doesn't necessarily open up all these new doors of things to do, but it does broaden the size and scope of the family unit considerably. I would've been happy with pretty much anything, but now thinking how both the dog and the cat are female, as are the rest of the humans in the house, it's kind of nice to equal out the testosterone just a little bit.

  1. Awesome stuff. Good luck to you. I hear boys really keep you going.

Other than my fixed tom cat, I am alone in an estrogen sea without a life jacket. Even my iguana turned traitor and ended up being a girl even though we were told she was male when we adopted her.

  2. Congratulations! It's always a great feeling when you find out the gender in those sonograms. Hope it's a smooth pregnancy, without any major troubles.

And thanks for following my blog!

Howabout "Howard", for Robert E and P Lovecraft? :-)

  4. Congrats! We had an ultrasound yesterday and our twins look like they're both going to be boys. Not 100% as Baby B was kicking his brother in the head and obscuring the identifying area. With the destruction our two-year old is wreaking on the house, we're going to have to reinforce our walls and furniture.

We're going with comic book names for our kids, but my wife still won't let me get away with anything too crazy. No MODOK or Galactus for me, sadly.

  7. Glad everything is progressing well. I would hope for a boy for our next one but my basement is full of girl clothes and toys from the first. Hate to have to go out and buy all new stuff. Family down the street just had their 4th girl with no boys. The balance just keep tipping the other way for him.

  9. Congrats Mik. From what I understand Boys are a terror from 1-12, girls supposedly become a terror at 13.

  11. This is why I maintain my blog and why I dropped my Facebook account. Thanks for all the well-wishes, after its sunk in now I'm getting very excited! There's just too many comments to respond to every single one, sorry! I will say that "Howard" as a name has considerable merit though!

  12. Good Work! Nothing like a son to carry the family name and heraldry. He will be growing his own veggies in no time.

  14. An interesting development, "Conan" is actually back on the table! My wife's no 'gamer girl' but she's been married to me for fifteen years, so I guess rubbing off on her was bound to happen!
