A Boy and His [Critter]
Plodding right along with my 15mm sci-fi spree are these two fellows. The eyeball-worm critter was part of the Dropship Horizon prize pack I got over the holidays. It's funny, he was my least favorite of the Critical Mass Mercs, but the first I painted up. Since then he's totally grown on me. The second fig is from another excellent line by Rebel Minis. This Earth Force Marine was thrown in as a freebie when I placed my Sahadeen order a while back.
I take no shame in painting the marine as a Halo trooper, let's face it, it's a good look! Besides, he painted up fast; a base green with a lighter green highlight, a gold faceplate with a wash, and a tan rifle also with a wash, voila. Using this technique you would be able to crank out a lot of these in no time. The figure itself has plenty of detail though, (pouches, knee pads, backpack, boots, etc.) you could lavish as much attention as you wanted too.

I think all of the figures from that Mercs set are cool, but that eye-stalk thing is too weird for me not to like. Also thanks for the tip about Rebel Minis, I hadn't heard of them before but I really like their stuff.
ReplyDelete@Papa JJ: Yeah, he's a funky little critter, with a lot of character indeed. Definitely check out Rebel Minis, they've got a lot of great looking figs in a variety of genres.
ReplyDeleteCool deal here. I like the scifi LOMO look you have here.

My camera's not Russian, but it is old. Maybe that has something to do with it?
