First Wave of Prepped Galctic Citizenry

On the heels of last week's debut of Galactic Citizens sculpted by Eli for 15mm.co.uk I began prepping them for painting. I've gotta hand it to these figs, there was pretty much zero flash and basically no trimming needed. A couple of them did need some work to the bottoms of their bases to get them to stand flat however.

As you can see, and after more debate than I intended, I have decided to base these up the "Spacejacker" way. By using 20mm plastic bases each figure gets its own, little display plinth as well as plenty of space for basing medium. Also, in Spacejacker's own words, "it looks classy". I'll PVA their sand on tonight, prime them in the next day or two, and hopefully start painting on them soon after that. Also taking another tip from Spacejacker, I'll be painting these up in groups of five at a time. EDIT: I scrapped this idea about day after taking the pics, haha. The galactic citizens are still at the forefront of the queue, but the basing I went on and on about here has been changed quite a bit from what you see here.

Oh, and happy Leap Year by the way!

    1. Thanks Joe, I definitely wanted to do something above and beyond for these. Logistically speaking there have been a few hiccups, so we'll have to see what I end up with.

    1. Glad you think so. There are plenty of alien armies out there but I figured the galaxy could use a few new faces in the crowd.

  3. Did you go with the mdf in the end? Sucks that you can't get 20mm slotta bases in the US :( great looking group anyway Mik.

    1. Don't know if you saw my huge Star Grunt II army a while back, they're all on 3/4" washers. I guess they kind of set the "Mik's Minis" 15mm basing standard and I just didn't realize it.

  4. Ah, some of these guys are unreleased - I was looking at the silhouettes and looking at the 15mm.co.uk site and wondering if I needed my eyes checked!

I base all my singles on 16mm washers as I use magnetic sheet on my storage trays. Just use a bit of polyfilla to blend the figure base to the washer.

    1. Heya Kobold! These aren't the best pics, I was trying to do some WIP shots with my phone as I went along. A few days ago I had this post that shows the unreleased figs a lot better:

  6. What? No 20mm bases? Aww.... :(

I'm also a great fan of the look it gives the minis, more "proper" somehow. I get mine from www.em4miniatures.com which is located in the UK but the shipping of such light stuff is very cheap.

Will be fun seeing these guys getting some paint! :)
